Becoming a Paralegal in Iowa
Iowa does not regulate or license paralegals. Prospective paralegals may become a paralegal through on-the-job training opportunities or by pursuing a certificate program, an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree.

Iowa Association of Legal Assistants (IALA)
IALA is a non-profit professional association founded in September, 1987, as a result of the consolidation of Paralegals of Iowa, Ltd., (POI) and Iowa Legal Assistants Association (ILAA). Today, IALA is proud to represent members statewide.
