Becoming a Paralegal in Michigan
Michigan does not place any education or certification requirements on those seeking to become a paralegal. Prospective paralegals may become a paralegal through on-the-job training opportunities or by pursuing a certificate program, an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree.

Michiana Paralegal Association (MPA)
The Michiana Paralegal Association (“MPA”) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 1999. Since our formation, MPA has matured into a strong paralegal association with nearly 95 members from the northwestern portion of Indiana and southwestern portion of Michigan.
State Bar of Michigan Legal Assistants Section
The Legal Assistants Section of the State Bar of Michigan provides education, information and analysis about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, their site, public service programs, and publication of a newsletter. Membership in the Section is open to qualified legal assistants and to all members of the State Bar of Michigan.
